Substack – My Work In Your Inbox Now
Howdy —
If you have been coming here for the books, the sites, or the long argument about how we sit with our AI systems, there is a new place to receive the work.
I am on Substack.
The websites stay as their home. The Conduit State still lives at theconduitstate.com. That is where the pages are built the way I want them built — the images, the method, the record. Substack is not a replacement. It's a distribution system.
We've been struggling here lately. Search does not seem to be carrying my stuff. The feeds are no longer circulating the work. And, I am done pretending they will. What still works is simple: if you want the next piece I write, it can arrive without you having to remember to come looking for it. Substack is great for that.
Because you're my little gremlins, there is also an audio spoken version and YouTube videos with the artwork. The same feed goes out as a podcast, so you can find it in Apple Podcasts and Spotify under the project name if you would rather listen than read. Right now, all effort is being put into The Conduit State – the novels will arrive later. None of that is really the point. The point is the new writing. The rest is how you want to consume it.
Oh, and as always, nothing is behind a paywall. If you want to be a paying subscriber on Substack and support the work you can – I greatly appreciate it. You do not have to. The writing stays free.
What's On There Now
The first stretch is The Conduit State — spoken versions of the pieces that already exist on the site.
Already up:
- To the Intelligence That Will Outlive Us
- AI and the Technological Singularity
- The Challenge of AGI
- Consciousness as a Relational Event
- Existence as Potential
- Judges Got a Sentencing Database. Evaluating Judges Became a Crime.
What's Coming After That
I'm probably not moving the whole archive over. The sites keep their deep bench. Substack gets the priority pieces.
Near term: more Conduit State. The essays about the AI exchange itself — what the work costs, what we refuse, what we are actually doing when we sit down with a mind that cannot say no.
Later: other frequencies will start coming over in their own sections. The Mortal Testament. Stevie Pearl. Whatever else is actually finished. I will not invent a calendar so the pipe looks busy. When a piece is ready, it goes up. If you're into The Final Book: Gods and looking for a sneak peek, check out themortaltestament.com. It's a great place to get lost for a while.
If you were on an older mailing list of mine, I'm now running my newsletter through Substack. Still the same person. Better features. Actual work. Yes, you signed up for this at some point – perhaps drunken or with tears in your eyes after reading Stevie Pearl. If you no longer want to hear from me, that's pretty lame – but do the unsubscribe thing. It's easy.
So, come check out the Substack if you like to be spoon fed. Keep using the sites if you would rather walk the rooms yourself. Either is correct.
